Allen's Jaffas

Jaffas is the oh so enticing small round sweet consist ting of a soft chocolate centre with a hard covering of orange flavoured, red coloured confectionery. We love the idea that name of this iconic ball of chocolate derives from the Jaffa orange yet isn't at all good for you (or is it in fact an essential source of Vitamin C?). The story goes that you roll the Jaffa down the aisle at movie theatres... We just eat them.

Cadbury Caramello Koala

The Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramello Koala is genius combination of flowing caramel coated in chocolate. They're not too dissimilar to the Freddo Frog except you get oodles of caramel.

AustralianFoodOnline.co.uk are not as impressed with the character 'Caramello Koala' compared to say 'Fat Cat' but as a food item, he's definitely in our top ten. In these tough times of consolidation and cost cutting, we're all pleased there is room for the little guy. Why though is Freddo the same size as Caramello and if they had a fight, who would win?

Cherry ripe

Reputedly, the Cherry Ripe is is Australia's oldest type of chocolate bar. We think the combination of cherry and coconut covered in Old Gold dark chocolate is the most amazing confectionary ever invented. Bounty's are good, but Cherry Ripes are great.

If you're feeling a bit homesick, try the old Cherry Ripe. That coconut cherry filling is just out of this world or at least a reminder of Oz.

The Pollywaffle is another strange concoction but bloody marvelous. Marshmallow in a chocolate covered wafer. Pure genius.

Did you know that since the 80’s the Pollywaffle manufacturers have been using some of those oompa loompa’s from Willy Wonka to stuff the marshmallow in? I understand that this is due to their small yet dexterous fingers. Anyway, rumour has it they had nothing else to do anyway after Thatcher shut down all the factories.

Freddo is one happy looking character and we're glad the inventor, Harry Melbourne and the Willy Wonka equivalent, Macpherson Robertson didn't go with a mouse.
